August 12, 2026 -- EAST GRAND RAPIDS, MI The EGR Girls’ Field Hockey spent the morning working hard on the field during this last day of Fall 2026 Try-outs. And once they were done with the sprints and drills, they spent a few hours helping out in the community. It is important to recognize that EGR is a unique community that supports the schools, the sports, the extra-curriculars and the student(-athlete)s. The Field Hockey team wanted to honor all that has been given to them by giving back. For about two hours the young women assisted in setting up the Jewish Federation of Grand Rapids Women’s Luncheon. Moving tables, setting up chairs, laying out place settings made this event easier to execute. Nicole Katzman, EGR resident and JFGR Executive Director and Helayne Sherman, Volunteers and Special Activities Coordinator for JFGR were thrilled to have the help and get to meet the fine, young women participating in the EGR Field Hockey program this Fall.
